ABOUT US...

The Lab Room opened its doors in 2000 in one of Madrid's most chicest and cosmopolitan neighborhoods.  Monica Ceño Elie-Joseph, creator and owner of The Lab Room, established a 70's stylish space with several cozy rooms where every beauty need for hair, make-up, facials, massages and waxing were addressed for beauty addicts.  It soon became the hot spot in Madrid for beauty addicts. The treatments were based on natural techniques and used aromatherapy. It became a pioneer spa by using innovative techniques such as eyebrow design and eyelash extensions, and by offering trendy lines from the five continents. Claus Porto, Tweezerman, Modelco, Bioresonance or Farmacia S.S Annunziata are some of the successful lines introduced by The Lab Room into the Spanish market.

 

Quoted by Wallpaper city guides “as an astonishing spa”, and by Italian Vogue as “the spa of the city offering the most original treatments in the world of beauty care”, the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ivana Trump, Natalie Portman, Penelope and Monica Cruz, Esther Cañadas, Gael García Bernal or Plácido Domingo are only a few names among the celebrities that have trusted their image and well being to The Lab Room.

 In 2007 The Lab Room introduced its new line of products: The Lab Room Beauty Collection, a beauty line that conveys the philosophy of the lab room creator, Monica Ceño Elie-Joseph: pure, natural products that evoke her Mediterranean heritage, contained in a stylish classic retro packaging created by Spanish interior designer Miguel Domingo. Created as a response to the needs of her international clients, notes of rose, lemon, orange and geranium float in the composition of most of her products. Developed in Spain, France, Switzerland and Indonesia, the line has 25 products, including oils, creams, candles, and perfumes that when combined and used together recreate the, aromas and feelings of the spa experience. The Lab Room has been featured in Spanish & Italian Vogue; Spanish  & Italian Elle magazine; Town & Country, Flair, Vanidad, Spa Magazine; Marie Claire; Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Spanish & American In Style, Wallpaper …

MONICA CEÑO ELIE-JOSEPH    BIO  

Mónica Ceño Elie-Joseph (Madrid 1970), received a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the Complutense University in Madrid and is currently preparing her thesis for a Doctorate degree in Contemporary Art.  She has lived in New York for a few years and worked at the MoMA and the Guggenheim in New York.  Back in Madrid in 2000, she began to collaborate as a writer for publications Vogue España, Vanidad and Kapital Magazine and soon decided to create The Lab Room, a beauty day spa that revolutionised the traditional beauty salon concept. A multispace for beauty and image, with beauty boutique, djs, art exhibitions and beauty services altogether, The Lab Room became a pioneer in Spain for beauty and image style services.  In April 2007, Mónica published “Desnudas, Aprende a quererte tal y como eres” (Aguilar 2007).  The book, which stayed on the top ten list in Spain for several months,  explains to women on how to bring out the best of themselves with basic rules of  exercise,  healthy eating, fashion style and image, and exclusive natural beauty recipes.  Currently, she writes a succesful blog titled “Secretos de Salon” (Beauty Parlour Secrets), where she writes about beauty.  Mónica Ceño’s latest accomplishment to the Spanish beauty sector is The Lab Room Beauty Collection, a niche cosmetic brand. Mónica likes to define her products as emotional cosmetics that transforms you on the inside and the outside, thanks to their Botanical and Aromatherapy synergetic formulas.  In september 2008 she launched her collection of parfums and the 7 scent Collection.

TREATMENTS MENU

APPOINTMENTS
All our treatments require a prior appointment, although you can always drop in to see if we can fit you in. If not, you can always sit in our lounge
and leave with renewed energy.
Punctuality. This is absolutely necessary, so that no-one has to wait. Remember that you must call us to reserve a time. A credit card is required for treatments which take over 3 hours. Please ring us if you think you cannot come. 24 hours’ notice is required for treatments, and 48 hours’ notice for
packs. Otherwise, 50% of the treatment must be paid.

VOUCHERS
Although you will have to pay it all at once, if you’re a Lab Room addict, you’ll save 20% with a voucher for 10 treatments - don’t doubt it.

HOME SERVICE
In The Lab Room we adapt ourselves to your needs and, by prior appointment, we can provide you with service when you need it. Home service prices are
increased by 50%.

If you are on the verge of escaping via the air conditioning ducts to get a breath of fresh air, breathe deeply and relax. The Lab Room massage team is
coming to the rescue. Tell us what day you’d like us to come to your office, get 10 volunteers together, and with just 20 mins of massage you’ll be fully
revived and will return to work so on-the-ball that a pay rise will be an imminent reality. NOTE: if you are the Head of Human Resources, be generous with
your personnel and subsidize this idea – they will thank you every morning with warm doughnuts.
